W.A.Y.S. Weekly Update

Dear WAYS Community,

Happy Memorial Day!  Welcome to the last week of the school year 2012-2013!  It has been a fantastic year and I have been so glad to have had the opportunity to be here.

Last weeks highlights:

1.       Teachers started off the week having fun meeting new groups of kids at Teacher mix-up-day.  Some students even got personal letters letting them know what was in store for them in the next grade.

2.       Our School Site Council met and agreed on the budget for our science curriculum for next year.

3.       Archer school for girls high school in Brentwood spent the afternoon with our after school program at Manchester.  The girls brought with them over 1,000 books as a result of their community service project.  They stayed to read and eat pizza with WAYS students.  Teachers and students were able to take books home for summer reading.

4.       On Thursday, WAYS students saw the fabulous musical Edutainer Part 2.

5.       On Friday we ended the week with our final Science fair for the year.  Our true scientists showed us how much they have learned this year.

This week’s highlights

Tuesday:  Awards ceremony 9 am at Salvation Army and 1:00 pm at Manchester
Wednesday: Parent Volunteer luncheon (by invitation only)
Thursday: Teacher appreciation dinner
Friday: Kinder and fifth grade graduation at Washington Park

Thank you all for making this year so great.

Have a safe, healthy and productive summer.

Sincerely,

Karen Horowitz
Vice Principal
